October 29, 2008 – Small Plane Crash Kills 2
A small plane crashed in Estacada, Oregon on Tuesday night, killing the 2 men on board the plane, authorities said. A citizen called 911 after he noticed the plane had no working lights when it flew over his house. He told emergency dispatchers that he heard the plane crash into some trees shortly after flying over his home.
The pilot had called a friend on the ground just minutes before the crash to report that he was experiencing electrical problems, sheriff’s deputies said. Rescue workers reported seeing a plume of smoke, which led them to the crash site, which was littered with debris from the Cessna P206. Emergency crews found the plane twenty minutes after the 911 call, officials said.
Both men on board the plane were killed. Their names have not yet been released.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
