October 10, 2008 – NC School Bus Crash Injures 23 Students
A school bus flipped over into a ditch in Havelock, North Carolina Friday morning, injuring 23 students, police said.
The students were transported to local hospitals, all with minor injuries, according to officials. The children’s parents were contacted soon after the incident, school officials said.
According to the Highway Patrol, the bus driver swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting an animal, lost control of the bus, and landed in the ditch at 7:29 a.m. Friday morning. The bus driver was not injured in the crash.
